“Bomberman” is still currently in possession of Awesome Rock (Click on the picture to see full view):

So the rock and I headed over to Brazosport College in Lake Jackson, TX where I am taking one of my summer courses. I got my Associate’s of Arts there a while back. (Editor’s Note: The rock is actually on the right side of the sign, as Bomberman is pointing at nothing but air).

I wanted to teach the rock the importance of education.

The rock had never been to an art gallery before.

The rock is fascinated by imagism.

The weather has been nasty over here and mosquitos are out in full force, so the rock and I haven’t been able to go as many places as we’d like. But here’s one:

He ordered a grilled chicken wrap and a diet Coke with vanilla.

The next person to receive the rock is “Bomberman.” Bomberman resides in Jackson, TX but on this glorious day he took the rock to Houston, TX. The following are his comments. (Click on the picture to see the full size).

The rock is excited about learning to drive

May 15th, 2009 - We went into Portland recently. One of the stops on the public transit system was right outside Portland International Raceway. There was a motorcycle race of some kind going on, and though we weren’t able to make it to the track for an up-close shot, he was thrilled to hear the scream of the engines.

Further along our route, we had to stop for another light-rail transfer. This time, we stopped outside of the Rose Quarter, home of the Portland Trailblazers. Rock may not be able to bust out basketball skills due to his lack of hands, but he’s quite the fan of the game.

And with that, I think he’s ready to head out to Texas. It’s been a blast, Rock!

Not to be confused with the Vancouver in Canada, the next Journey on the rock’s trip was to Vancouver, Washington. I had taken the rock to as many places as I could so I passed the torch (or rock) along. The following comments you see are all from “Kendrick” and I am simply copy and pasting his comments about the rock’s journey.
May 6th, 2009 -
So. Rock flew in today. I’ll be taking him on a tour (though… I’m afraid there isn’t much in the way of exciting things) here in Vancouver, WA.
Here is a pic of Rock looking down on his recently captured food.

Above, you can see that Rock was hungry when he got here. He was excited about the prospect of food (something the rest of you hosts will quickly learn). I chose to play the mooch and just ate off of his plate. He was happy about the fish, but found the overall presentation a bit… yellow.
Below is a shot of Rock trying to help me through the ChaCha orientation process. Seems he understands marketing. Who would have thought?

May 7th, 2009 -
Rock wanted to go with me to classes today; said something about wanting to experience a community college in the northwest. I couldn’t argue with him… his grin was just… I mean… who can argue with that?
The first thing that caught his eye on campus was the bell tower. It’s supposed to be a pen sticking out of the ground, but Rock’s wit saw it as an oversized penis. He started cracking up and demanded I get a picture of him with the world’s biggest brick dick… after making sure I understood it was a “no homo” desire.

Next up was sitting in State and Local Government class. He told me that he has the charisma to succeed in politics. I’m inclined to agree.

Then off to music classes. We managed to get there a little early, so he asked me to play the piano for him. He told me a sad story about always wanting to play the piano but that he is physically incapable of doing so. Still, he managed to keep a smile going.

When coming back home, we had to catch another bus downtown. He was absolutely thrilled when he saw his distant cousin, Slab the Giant. Couldn’t pass up that family photo op.

May 9th, 2009 -
Well. Rock and I hit up some King of Fighters 2002, earlier. He seemed to enjoy it a lot if his smile is any indicator of things. He had a rock solid defense. I can’t believe Rock is a turtler, though.
I let him use my stick, but he wants to play some of dat SFIV, so he’s gonna help me out with finishing up the re-wiring of the stick.

May 15th, 2009 -
He helped me mod my stick, and with his help we got it running on all consoles. Hooray.

So the rock was in luck, as in the particular time I had the rock was the same time I was going to an all day festival in the Coachella Valley. It’s out by hometown of Palm Springs, California, so of course rock came on the journey. We strolled through Palm Springs visiting the famous statues (although I couldn’t tell who most of them were). We also went down to the windmills in the desert and hung out with the dinosaurs from Pee Wee’s Big Adventure.
Rawr!
Most of the time though we hung out at the festival and the rock got to see some acts like M.I.A., The Fleet Foxes, The Killers, The Bloody Beetroots, among others. Rock also got to see a lot of interesting characters while it got a tan. I won’t go into detail about each picture, but if you click on one of the pictures in the gallery it will offer a caption about each picture. Overall I think the rock had a good time!
Stay tuned for more rockventures!

The rock’s journey began in Union, NJ where Kooper resides. I was the first one to receive the amazing little guy. I am in located in Long Beach, CA. I had the rock deliver to my work and one of my video character figures was the first to greet it.

BFFs
I can honestly say the rock put a smile on everyone’s faces. You may think of it as just a rock, but it’s so much for than that. It’s always happy, it never judges or criticizes you and it will always be there for you no matter what. How many friends do you have that you can say that about?
I left work and proceeded to drive around. On our way down the world famous Los Angeles traffic, rock and I encountered a typical freeway accident.

That guy could use a happy rock by his side
Kooper mentioned that the rock liked hanging at arcades, so I decided to see the rock’s skills at some of the most popular games from our local arcade.

Rock didn’t do so good

He’s a maniac on the racetrack

Rock’s a superfreak, superfreak, he’s superfreaky
After a long day of traveling, playing and seeing new things, I decided it was time to take rock home and relax. The apartment is not too far from the ocean so he got to enjoy some nice views.

Rock is tired
Rock’s journey with me was far from over, but it wouldn’t be for a few days until rock would get to see some new areas. Stay tuned!

This part of the site is dedicated to the greatness that is the rock. A friend from an online message board, simply referred to as Kooper, posted the picture below with the caption “This is my rock”.
He proceeded to tell the story about how the rock was born:
It was the day after my college graduation when a good friend/coworker of mine was like
Him:”Hey Kooper congratulations on making it through. Here I got you something really special…” -hands me the rock-
Me: “Isn’t this a rock from right outside the main doors?”
Him: “Yeah man I was thinking of you”
After that I just kept it in my pocket wherever I went and showed it to people I knew, everyone loved him. The usual question was “Why the **** do you have a rock in your pocket?” man he was loved. Until one day I got bored and drew a face on him. I finally felt like I was doing something productive with my life.
And that’s the story of how he was born.
The rock was immediately loved by all and at one point I suggested the rock be sent around the country so that it could travel and meet new people/rocks. The idea was well received, both nationally and internationally. I was the first one to receive the rock. The rules are that each person must take pictures of the rock in some landmarks from around their area and when they are done showing the rock around they must send it to someone else.
You can follow the rocks travels as it goes through the country and the world. Some planned destinations include Ireland and the UK. Enjoy the rock’s journey as it learns about cultures and people around the world, makes new friends and maybe even teaches us a little something in the process.
